YA- Rewind #1- Syd Reads the Twilight Saga

This is going to be a four episode recurring series that will have one episode per discussion of a single book in the series. This book was chosen for Syd by Jess for many reasons. The first is because it is what jump started her love of paranormal romance and vampires.

Granted the vampires in Twilight are much different than those found in many other books.

On a much more personal note Twilight, especially Breaking Dawn, has held a special place in her heart because it provided a different world to escape into at an especially trying time of Jess's childhood. Rereading Breaking Dawn while waiting for the movie to come out was a great escape. The movies are not the best, although the very last is arguably a masterpiece in Jess's eyes!!

If you're looking for a book that will allow you to immerse yourself in the characters as an adult, this is not that book. However, if you're looking for a semi- safe book for your children this is a strong contender. There will need to be discussions about Bella's handling of Edward's departure in New Moon but even that is something that can be used as a wonderful teaching moment!!
