Jan. 2021 Book Review- Crown of Shadows by K.M. Shea

This month we read a really fun urban fantasy novel, that had just a sprinkling of romance. The main character, Leila, is half- fae/ half-human that was raised by her fully human mother and step-dad. However, shortly after she graduates college these nightmarish black horses start showing up and getting friendly with her pet donkey, Bagel. It turns out those horses are fae creatures called Night Mares and they've just crowned her the new Night Court Queen!! Suddenly she is saddled with running a kingdom she knows next to nothing about and having to move into a huge mansion!
